Cycling in the Soča Valley

Three different sports share a name here, and three different people do them well.

Road riders have the Mangart Saddle at 2,055 m - the highest paved road in Slovenia - and quieter valley loops. Singletrack riders want full suspension. And if you would rather have a motor for the climb, that is a third thing again.

Where to go

Mangart Road

the highest road in Slovenia, up to the saddle at 2,055 m

Where
≈ 35 km

A narrow toll road that climbs through unlit rock tunnels to the Mangart saddle, with Italy and the Fusine lakes below on the far side. Go early on a clear day - cloud can sit on the saddle while the valley is in sun. Open only once the snow has cleared, roughly early summer to autumn. Rather ride down than drive up? Our van will take you and your bikes to the top.
